Our Hiring Process

COVID19 statement

Here at Autonomous Intelligent Driving our north star has always been to bring autonomy to the people. As global teams - including ourselves – have begun working more remotely in recent weeks, our commitment to our core values is now more important than ever. Taking consideration and craftsmanship into account, we continue to search for great people to join us in our journey in enabling urban autonomous driving, while continuously striving for an excellent candidate experience. We’ve shifted our recruitment process to be completely virtual and are continuously exploring ways to inform and engage candidates through transparent and clear communication. As the whole organization is working remotely, we’ve also shifted the onboarding process virtually. New joiners will be assigned a buddy from their new team and go through a series of virtual sessions and team introductions from across the organization to ensure that everyone feels welcome and connected from Day 1. Keeping passion and creativity in mind, you will see this shine through in our day to day operational activities, social life, virtual baking events, game evenings and other remote social activities. Nevertheless, we hope for a return to normality and to see you again soon!

Ever since the company`s establishment in 2017, AID has been a rapidly growing company, looking for the best of talent from all over the world. 1. Initial Application Phase

Search for a position that matches your skillset here and submit your English application online. Once you have successfully submitted your application for your selected position, our team of international expert recruiters will get back to you within 7 days. If the feedback is positive, you'll have exploratory calls with the recruitment team and the technical team. Depending on your prospective position, you may receive technical assessments such as an HackerRank Online Assessment and/or take-home task.

During the recruitment exploratory call, you'll speak with a member of our recruiting team either by phone or video call. The purpose of the conversation is to explore your interests and experience and discuss your motivation for working at Autonomous Intelligent Driving. This helps our recruiters to identify the best spot for you in our organization and determine if you are a good fit for the company. The recruiter will also answer any initial questions you may have.
The next step is a video call with a member of your prospective team. On this call, the team member will discuss your background and skills in more detail and answer specific questions you might have about the role. To prepare, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the job description, the team description, and the activity of the company. If you're applying for a software engineering role, be prepared for a series of whiteboard exercises. Feel free to ask more information from your recruiter if you have questions!
HackerRank is an online assessment tool that gives you a small glimpse of the types of algorithms you would see at AID. The test consists of several practical coding challenges that can last between 45 and 90 minutes.
The nature of the homework depends on the position and will be either technical or non-technical depending on the area of business. The technical homework assessment for Software Development related positions is an in-depth coding challenge. We'll look at things like coding style, readability, C++ usage, testing, algorithm choice and implementation, as well as software organization, architecture and documentation. Non-software engineering roles have an in-depth domain exercise that assesses and demonstrates your subject matter expertise. Reach out to your recruiter if you have specific questions about this step!

State Benefits

STATE HEALTH INSURANCE
The cost for medical treatments, a stay in hospital or medicines are paid for by your health insurance fund as a rule, except for the co-payment that you have to make. It is therefore important to belong to a statutory or private health insurance fund. Statutory insurance is compulsory up to a specific level of income. If you earn more, you can choose whether you would like to remain in the statutory health insurance fund or pay into a private health insurance fund. The employee pays a minimum of 14.6% to the insurance fund (it’s slightly different depending on the insurance provider). If you are ill you should visit a general practitioner (doctor) in your area. He or she will help you and refer you, if necessary, to a specialist doctor. You can visit any general practitioner and it’s free of charge. You can collect medicines, that have been prescribed for you, from a pharmacy. There, you must only pay a small proportion of the cost yourself (a maximum of EUR 10), as your health insurance fund will pay the rest. Medicines for children and juveniles under 18 are free of charge if they are prescribed by a doctor. If you are insured by a private health insurance fund, you must initially pay for visits to the doctor and for medicines yourself. Then you can send the invoice to your health insurance fund, which will reimburse the costs. More information can be found at the following Link.
CHILD BENEFIT (Kindergeld)
Residents in Germany receive a monthly child benefit from the birth of the child up to their 25th birthday. The benefit is valid for biological children, step-children and also for adopted children. The benefit amount is increasing every year. In 2018 it’s 194€ for the first and the second child, 200€ for the third child and 225€ for the fourth and every additional child.
SOCIAL INSURANCE IN GERMANY
The social insurance scheme in Germany is a statutory insurance system providing effective protection in case of major crises and their consequences such as illness, unemployment and long-term care needs. The aim is to provide everyone with a stable standard of living, provide support and a pension when people have retired. The social insurance scheme is a mandatory form of insurance. Half of the statutory social insurance contributions are paid by the employer. The other half is paid by the employee. It is automatically deducted from their salary or wages. The contribution payable to social insurance is calculated in accordance with income as a matter of principle. Contributions towards health and pensions insurance are however capped at a specific level of income (known as the contribution assessment ceiling).
UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE
Unemployment insurance is also part of the statutory social insurance. Everyone is insured with the exception of those in negligible employment (Geringfügige Beschäftigung).
PENSION
All employees are subject to mandatory statutory pensions insurance. The pensions insurance scheme ensures that you are financially secure in your old age. The arrangement until 2012 was that, as a rule, you would be paid a pension when you reached the age of 65. The retirement age is subsequently being increased to 67 in stages. The pensions insurance scheme also supports you if you become unable to work during your working life, meaning that you are unable to work at all, or only to a certain degree, or if you are widowed or an orphan. The statutory pension is lower than your income during your working life. To maintain your standard of living during old age, you should supplement the statutory pension insurance with a private scheme.
